Raito Noberu no Tanoshii Kakikata (The Fun Way To Write a Light Novel) is a Japanese film based on the Toru Honda novel of the same name. It tells the story of student Yakumo Atae, who discovers that his classmate Tsurugi Yabusame is writer. After publishing her first light novel, Tsurugi is experiencing writer's block and Yakumo is enlisted to help get her writing again.

The blind people in this film share a common philosophy that drives them to live independently and to contribute to society. They are not interested in entitlement, but empowerment. They see blindness as a mere inconvenience, not a disability entitling them to special services. Seeing the reactions of airline attendants, transportation officials, and fellow travelers, though, shows how society as a whole has not readily embraced the idea of independent blind people. Lending their expert commentary in the film is Dr. Fred Schroeder, former Secretary for the Rehabilitation Services Administration; Dr. Floyd Matson, the late professor of American Studies at the University of Hawaii and author of Walking Alone, Marching Together, a history of the organized blind movement; and James Omvig, from the National Blindness Professionals Certification Board and author of Freedom for the Blind: The Answer is Empowerment.

Director Zigurds Vidiņš has been following Lidija Lasmane-Doroņina for more than 10 years with his camera. She was arrested in 1946, 1970 and 1983 by the Soviet regime, spending a total of 14 years in prison, her only crime: the dream of an independent Latvia. Thanks to Mikhail Gorbachev’s perestroika she was released from prison in May 1987. In 2010, Lidija Lasmane-Daroņina celebrated her 85th birthday, and On the Way of Light was released at the same time.
